Frequently Asked Questions
Using Tipp.ly is simple:
Create an account (with your email address or Facebook account).
Choose a group you'd like to join, or create your own group and invite your friends, family members, or colleagues.
If you are the group administrator, you need to join an active tournament. If you are not the administrator, you'll need to wait until they do so.
Once that's done, you can submit your predictions for matches, the tournament winner, and the Golden Boot winner (if predictions for these categories are still open).

Yes, you can join at any time during the tournament. However, your chances of finishing at the top of the leaderboard will be lower, as you will receive 0 points for matches that have already been played.
That's why we recommend joining as early as possible!

Yes!
You can create multiple groups and join as many groups as you'd like. The only requirement is that the group administrator approves your membership if the group is private.
This allows you to compete with different groups of friends, colleagues, or communities at the same time. And who says you can't win in more than one group?
Please note that your predictions are shared across all groups you belong to, so you only need to submit them once.

You can submit and modify your match predictions right up until the kick-off of each match.
However, predictions for the tournament winner and the Golden Boot winner can only be submitted until the start of the first match of the tournament. Once the tournament has begun, these predictions can no longer be changed or submitted.

Yes. Your predictions are shared across all groups you have joined, so you only need to submit them once. However, your scores may differ from group to group, as each group administrator can define their own scoring system and point values for predictions.
The visibility of predictions is controlled by the group administrator. Each group can use one of the following settings:
Before kick-off
Predictions become visible to all group members as soon as they are submitted.
After kick-off
All predictions remain hidden until the match starts.
Once a match has finished, you can immediately see how you rank on the leaderboard and compare your performance with other players across all your groups.

This depends on the scoring system chosen by the group administrator. As a result, your score may differ from group to group, even though your predictions are the same across all of them.
Points can be awarded for:
Exact score prediction
Correct match outcome and goal difference
Correct match outcome (home win, draw, away win)
Correctly predicting the number of goals scored by one of the teams
Important: Points are not cumulative. You will only receive points for your highest-value correct prediction for a match. The group administrator decides how many points each type of prediction is worth.
Additional points may also be awarded for correctly predicting the tournament winner and the Golden Boot winner.

No.
When predictions are evaluated, only the result after regular time (90 minutes) is taken into account.
The outcome of extra time (2 × 15 minutes) and penalty shootouts does not affect the scoring of predictions.

Match results are usually processed and added to the system shortly after the final whistle, along with the corresponding points earned by players.
During the World Cup, results from late-night and overnight matches may take a little longer to appear, but they will be available in the system by the following morning at the latest.
